Accidents happen!

Laptops, desktops, PDAs and Smartphones—technology has become the center point of our world. Without these devices, some people are unable to function in their personal and professional lives. Safeware can keep your worries away wtih a plan that covers the accidents and theft your electronic devices may encounter.

A Safeware Protection Plan is a comprehensive insurance program that will cover your laptop, dekstop or Tablet PC in the event that certain physical losses occur (many of which are not covered by standard warranties) at home, in the classroom or on the road.  The plan covers against unfortunate happenings such as theft, accidental damage, liquid spills, vandalism, power surge, lightning strike, flood, fire and more!

Unlike other plans, there is no limit of occurrences. Coverage does not terminate in the event of total loss or theft. Safeware offers this policy to cover the expenses of repair or replacement of the insured computer with no deduction for depreciation. The policy will continue for the repaired unit or is transferable to your replacement unit.

Coverage Details

Individual coverage for laptops, desktops, tablet PCs, peripherals. Safeware will cover your equipment for the entire duration of the policy, regardless of whether you have a claim or not. Advantages of a policy with Safeware include theft coverage, accidental damage, and world wide coverage.

Safeware's damage protection program has no limit of claims or occurences on its policy, unlike most other programs.  Coverage can be purchased for laptops, desktops, tablet PCs and peripherals.  PDA/Smartphone coverage can be purchased for Blackberries, At&T Tilts, Motorola MOTO Q Global, Treos, and Blackjacks.  

Discounts are abailable for use of anti-theft and anti-damage product use including protective cases, locking devices and asset tagging. 

Safeware Mobile Advantage requires only that you pay the deductible if your device is stolen or damaged unlike most service plans that require you to pay the full retail price or pay for the repair/replacement. This plan provides comprehensive coverage for your mobile device that protects it from theft, accidental damage, liquid spills, fire, vandalism and more!

Frequently Asked Questions 

How will you replace my system if they no longer make it when I have a loss?

We will replace your equipment with a “like kind and quality” unit, based on the retail market availability at the time of the loss.

Is insurance coverage the same as warranty coverage?

No. Insurance COMPLEMENTS the manufacturers warranty. The warrranty on your machine will service failures and mechanical breakdown.A Safeware insurance policy will protect you from physical damage such as a cracked lcd, liquid spills, power surges in addition to theft and certain natural disasters.

 

What is the procedure in the event of a loss?

In the event of a loss, call our toll-free number (1-800-800-1492) and speak to one of our Claims Examiners. They will walk you step by step through the correct procedure for handling your claim. You may also report a claim online. Just visit the Claims Center on this website!   

Is my software covered by the policy?

Only factory installed software such as the Operating System is covered by Safeware. However, if you have applications that you would like to cover some of our policies do cover sofware that is installed after the purchase of the computer. Please call our Customer Service department (800-800-1492) for inquiries about covering newly purchased software on your laptop, desktop, or tablet computer.

 

What if my computer is custom built, or a clone model?

In order for us to accurately replace your equipment if a loss were to occur, we will need proof of ownership for each individual item used to build your computer system. The proofs of ownership must be given to us prior to policy inception.

 

When do you need to see proof of ownership?

In the event of a loss, your proof of ownership such as receipts, canceled checks and or credit card receipts would be necessary for claims processing. We do recommend that you keep your proof of ownership for your equipment alongside your Safeware insurance policy.

 

Where do I take my equipment to get it fixed?

You don’t need to take your equipment anywhere. In the event of a covered loss, you will first contact one of our friendly Claims Examiners. Our Claims Examiner will schedule to have a box sent to your home or business. Postage on the box is already paid. Once you have received the box, you’ll place your damaged unit inside the box, and send it to our own Licensed Repair Facility, where your equipment will be diagnosed, repaired, and replaced if need be.

 

How can I protect my laptop?

  • Keep liquids away from your system!
  • Don't put your laptop in a bag with heavy items.
  • Makre sure to use a surge protector to help prevent loss from power surges.
  • Back up your data on a regular basis in case of theft or total loss.

What is accidental damage?

Accidental damage is defined as an unexpected and unintentional external event, resulting in physical damage to the insured equipment. Examples of accidental damage include, but are not limited to Drops, Falls, Collisions, and Liquid Spills.

 

Do you depreciate my equipment if I have a loss?

No, there is no deduction for depreciation. In the event of a total loss, the replacement would be based on like kind and quality equipment available on the retail market at the time of claim adjudication.

 

What if your total hardware value exceeds your policy limit?

 

The total amount of coverage on your policy is the maximum that you will be reimbursed in the event of a total loss. If the value of your total hardware exceeds your policy limit, you will need to contact Safeware customer service in order to increase your coverage amount.
